Château Lamothe-Cissac, Cru Bourgeois Haut Médoc, Bordeaux, France, 2017

Tasting Notes –

A traditional left-bank Bordeaux from the Médoc made from a classic blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and a little Petit Verdot and aged in oak barrels for 12 months. This is a brilliant example of good quality, affordable and highly drinkable Bordeaux. 2017 was an excellent vintage producing great qualty fruit, only enhanced by the strict environmental methods on the estate. Aromas of red and blackcurrant, cherry and plum with soft spice and vanilla notes. The palate is soft and broad with ripe soft tannins, touches of smoke and leather wit a rounded finish.

Pairing –

Highly versatile, try with classic red meat or game dishes; fattier and saltier dishes in general will work fabulously. This wine will benefit hugely from an hour in a decanter before drinking and has the capacity to age for another five years or so.
